Any research that provides insight into Alzheimer’s is critical to finding a cure. It is important for patients and families affected by Alzheimer’s to consider participating in clinical studies. One such study is the ICARA Study (www.icarastudy.com), whose goal is to explore if an investigational drug, called Bapineuzumab, can help slow the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease. Clinical studies that test new treatments are the best chance we have for fighting this disease.

It`s the economics of the madhouse I am a full time carer for my mother since 2006 before that I cared for both parents
my mother is a WW2 veteran and has a war disabled pension and a war widows pension her state pension due to the overlap rule is £34 per week
I have a small private occupational pension and receive the carers allowance I get no other help at all therefore the ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE rightly or wrongly is in fact part of my wages my mother uses this allowance to pay me for the work that I do .
if the attendance allowance was removed so to would the carers allowance as it is only payable if the caree is in receipt of either A.A. or D.L.A. what help would we get from the local authority ?????? will it be CASH for the disabled to spend as they see fit and if so if it is means tested which it will be will the local authority DISREGARD WAR REALTED PENSIONS AS THEY DO NOW FOR MANY BENEFITS LIKE COUNCIL TAX & HOUSING BENEFIT
many elderly pensioners like my mother see the attendance allowance as part of their state pension to remove this benefit would be the end of her care at home if we could not afford to live ( we all have to pay bills) my options place my mother in care home at a cost of £1000 per week that the quote i was given some 6 months ago or i could care for her at home but without any income i would have to declare myself bankrupt and that would cost the banks god knows what if others done the same or we could look at the assisted suicide route i have an idea which option the state would prefer.

LETS GET ONE THING STRAIGHT WE CARERS WHO CARE FOR A FAMILY MEMBER AT HOME ONE ON ONE AND RECEIVE THE ALLOWANCE SAVE THE STATE SOME 23 BILLION £`S PER YEAR CARERS OVEALL SAVE THE N.H.S. OVER 80 BILLION £`S PER YEAR TO REMOVE THE A. ALLOWANCE WOULD FORCE MANY CARERS TO GIVE UP THEIR CARE WORK AND THEIR ELDERLY DISABLED RELATIVES WOULD THEN BE LEFT AT THE MERCY OF THE STATE / N.H.S.
